A Skin Supporting Smoothie Recipe by Robin Carter:
Years ago, I had the benefit of working with a respected Dietician who put me on her 3-month cleanse. Every morning for breakfast, I would blend up her morning smoothie which she called, The Liver Cleanse Shake. This recipe is inspired by that shake. I added protein powder to make it more of a meal and collagen for its relationship to youthful-looking skin.
Collagen is a protein that our bodies naturally produce, but that production decreases with age- and especially during menopause. In addition to making up articular cartilage of joints, collagen is what makes our skin firm and plump. When shopping for a collagen powder, choose one that is hydrolyzed and from grass-fed animals. I love this one from Vital Proteins that includes Hylauronic acid and Vitamin C. Available online from Vital Proteins
Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C are also beneficial topically, be sure to check out our Circadia Hydrating Mists and Serums. One of our expert estheticians can recommend the one specific to your skin.
